Wednesday Welcome 1

Wednesday Welcome Cream Tea

On the first Wednesday of this month many of us gathered for a cream tea at

The Princess Pavilion for our first Wednesday Welcome in a very long time.

How wonderful it was to get together.

The cream tea was delicious and we all enjoyed the chat and company.

Harvest of the Sea Service

Harvest of the Sea

Today at FMC Rev Andrew led a Harvest of the Sea service with sea themed hymns and Bible readings. The church was decorated with a mini lifeboat, fishing nets, life buoys and other items. Importantly, Andrew reminded us that when we are sailing, metaphorically, into the darkness and all around us seems lost then we have Jesus to save us; our ever-present hope in times of trial. Tracy and Jenny read our Bible readings and the pop-up choir led the singing.

Methodist Recorder

Relocating not closing

In an article published this week in The Methodist Recorder,

Revd Andrew Mumford is quoted as saying

that he is ‘determined that the decision to

YCCN

Young Christians Climate Network

We’ve got the YCCN (Young Christians Climate Network) boat in the foyer of church at the moment. They are walking in a relay from G7 (they started on Monday) to COP26, arriving in time for the summit in November.
The flag goes with the walkers, but the boat will stay here until it is transported to Exeter. It’s appropriate that it has stopped in Falmouth, because it was made here in the Maritime Museum. The hull is a wicker coffin.
Hannah and Will walked from Carbis Bay to Falmouth. Will is continuing with others to Fowey, where the flag will be handed on.

Wave of Hope

Wave of Hope for G7

Dear Lord, ahead of the G7 we share our ‘Wave of Hope’. We hope that the leaders will tackle the issues of fairness, sharing vaccines, reducing waste and plastic and to make our world a better place. Amen

Ascension

Light Breaks Through

The service at Falmouth Methodist Church today was led by Local Preacher Miss Jean Whetham and began with a call to worship including the phrase, ‘grace to help in time of need’ and this became the trope for the service.

The mess

Clean up!

During lockdown, we have been unable to use our church premises. However, no-one told the pigeons that, and they created a huge mess in the two yards to the side of the building. This needed clearing before we resumed our activities, and a gang of volunteers set to and did a magnificent job clearing all the rubbish out. Bin bag after bin bag was filled, until both yards were clean and tidy - better than they have looked for ages.

Gwennap Pit

He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

With beautiful afternoon sun and in strict covid-safe conditions the Falmouth and Gwennap Methodist Circuit met for an Easter service at Gwennap Pit this afternoon. This large outdoor facility allowed for social distancing in lovely surroundings with the hum of bird song and a mostly blue sky. What more could we ask for our Easter service?
