Notices for 19th & 26th November 2023

You are welcome to join us for worship. Our Sunday Services are held at New Street Church Hall, which is in New Street, just behind the Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr. Our services for this month are:

After Sunday services, refreshments are served. Please stay and take the opportunity to have a chat and get to know us better.

 

Thursday 7th December 10.30am      Mid-week Holy Communion at New Street

Midweek communions- at New Street. KCM members will also be invited to join us. Midweek communion services are on the first and third Thursdays of each month, being led alternately by a Methodist minister and an Anglican priest, with both congregations warmly invited to join us.

Sunday 3rd December 10.30am           Worship & Toy Gift Service led by the Café Worship Team

Regular activities:

Stitchcraft: meet at the Princess Pavilion every Monday at 2pm. New members’ welcome.

Footsteps Café: Falmouth & Penryn Churches Together coffee morning, Footsteps is held every Thursday in the foyer of Emmanuel Baptist Church from 10-12 noon.  Hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes available.  All are welcome.

Wednesday Welcome: meets on the first Wednesday in the month. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday 6th December and is at the Princess Pavilion.  To book please speak to or telephone Jeanette

Fair Trade Stall For personal reasons we will not be having a stall in November or December, but plan to resume in January. We may, however, be able to source anything you specially want or need. Nona and Euan

Special Coffee Morning: We are thrilled to announce that our special coffee morning held at the Membly Hall Hotel raised £1186.00 for church funds. A donation of £200 from the final amount has already been sent to the local Foodbank.

 Autumn Bible Studies:  You are all warmly invited to a short series of Bible studies on Tuesday afternoons at our home, 16, Old Well Gardens, Penryn. The studies will continue weekly, on 21st and 28th November and 5th December. We will be studying Jesus' parables. You don't have to come every week, as each weekly study will be complete- in- itself.  We hope that you can join us, Jonathan, and Louise.

 

Circuit Prayer Meeting on Zoom:  Circuit Zoom Prayer Meeting You are all warmly invited to the next circuit Zoom prayer meeting on 21st November and 5th December. If you are able to attend then please contact Rev Jonathan for the zoom link.

 

Toy/Gifting service on Sunday 3rd December: The Dracaena Centre are thrilled that we have once again offered to donate gifts to be distributed to children locally for Christmas. They have asked that we donate unwrapped gifts suitable for ages 3 -13 years of age.

 

Coach trip to see Mousehole Christmas lights. Friday 15th December Leave Falmouth at 4.30pm to go to Beck's for fish and chips before going to Mousehole and seeing other lights on the return journey. Cost of coach is £10. To book, or pay from now, please speak to or telephone Jeanette.

Christmas Card Posting Box: We will once again have our own posting box for your Christmas cards to be distributed to Church Family and Friends. It has been decided that this year’s donations for this will be given to St Petroc’s. 

Edgcumbe Methodist Church: This will be the Final service at Edgcumbe after 130 years of worship and witness. The service will take place on Sunday 10th December at 3pm led by Revd. Jonathan Froggatt. This will be a Christmas Carol service with donations for the Cornwall Children’s Hospice. Please come along and show your support.

 

Christmas Services: We are pleased to announce the following Christmas Services advance dates:

 

 17th December 4pm Ecumenical Carol Service with KCM in the church led by Revd. Andrew Mumford.

24th December 4pm Christingle Service in the church led by Revd. Jonathan Froggatt.

25th December 10.30am Joint Christmas Morning Service in the KCM church led by Revd. Jonathan Froggatt.

 

 

In our prayers, we continue to hold the following before God: from Falmouth: - we pray for Tony Thomas who has Covid, Ray Baker, Daphne Rundle, Barbara Toyne, Pauline & Peter Cocks, Dorothy Penman, Gwen Dunstan, Gill Wilkinson, Babs Minns, Paul brother of Ian, and the residents and staff of care homes, especially Langholme and the folk at Abbeyfield including Sheila Finch.

Eco- News: From Cornwall Wildlife Trust:  Shoresearch is a user-friendly and fun method of exploring the shore and recording the species and habitats found there. Shoresearch Cornwall has been run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust since 2012. Shoresearch are currently training up local marine groups all across Cornwall to run their own Shoresearch surveys using the new Shoresearch app. To find out if you can get involved, contact your local marine conservation group by finding them on social media. There is also the Your Shore Network facebook group which you can join to keep up to date with everything happening with the marine groups across Cornwall. 

 

Eco -Tip, From the RSPB: Trees and shrubs are wonderful multi-taskers for wildlife. They provide food and shelter and help protect our climate. They can even boost our mood! November is one of the best times to plant a tree. For more information, please visit the RSPB website.
