Methodist Women in Britain, Cornwall District Autumn Conference
MWiB’s October conference has just taken place in the beautiful setting of the Penmorvah Manor Hotel, led by Deacon Michelle Legumi on the theme of ‘An Alternative Vision for Humanity.’ There was also additional Bible study led by Mrs Ruth Bowen.
A large group spent two days discussing various themes related to ‘being’ & ‘doing’, how we are ‘human beings and not human doings.’ Michelle led us gently through discussions on communities and belonging, what diversity and inclusion looks like and what true belonging is.
Further, we contemplated employing Physio Divina by spending time looking at a painting by Sieger Koder. We questioned how our own identity influences how we see others but how looking at others through the lens of Christ’s love can changes how we view other people.
Ruth Bowen introduced major themes from Paul’s letter to the Philippians of love, faith and hope especially during difficult times in our lives.
Art and craft projects were completed too with painting pebbles, Bible verses and more. Estelle Turner from Helston Methodist Church ran a Fairtrade stall throughout the conference and Gillian Collins from Falmouth Methodist Church ran the bookstall.
Our thanks go to all involved but especially to Deacon Michell, Ruth Bowen, Louise, and Bren the co-Presidents of MWiB Cornwall.
