Ladies Choirs Concert
On Saturday 22nd June, Stithians Ladies Choir performed along with their guests, Barnstaple Ladies Choir. Each sang a varied programme of songs, from traditional choir favourites to religious music, to songs from the shows. They were very well received by the audience, who greatly appreciated all the hard work that had gone into producing such an enjoyable evening.
Barnstaple Ladies Choir was formed in 1984, and has a membership of 36. 17 of them were present for the tour of Cornwall. Stithians Ladies Choir was formed in 1966, and still boasts 5 founder members amongst the 40 or so choristers.
As well as the choirs, the audience were treated to a young trumpeter, playing in his first concert. Louie Draycott played ‘A Time for Peace’, which was greeted by huge applause. Additionally, Stithians’ accompanist, Rico Gerber, played two organ pieces.
All in all, it was a successful and enjoyable evening, which contributed a significant sum to FMC’s Regeneration Appeal Funds. Thanks are expressed to all who contributed in any way to the occasion.
