Introducing Jonathan and Louise Froggatt
Jonathan and Louise Froggatt
We have been asked to give a brief introduction to ourselves prior to our arrival in the circuit in August.
We met in 1994 when I was minister at Carnon Downs in the Truro circuit. Louise was already mum to twin daughters Morwenna and Charlotte, who were ten when we were married at Louise’s home church, All Hallows, St Kea.
In 1996 our son Sam was born and we moved to Dursley in Gloucestershire in what was then the Stroud and Dursley circuit. In 1999 our son Joe was born. We had ten happy years in Dursley. Louise worked as a facilitator for the organisation Parentline Plus, leading parenting courses and working with parents, one to one.
Our next move was in 2006, to the Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton circuit where I was superintendent minister. Temple Methodist church in Budleigh is right in the centre of the town and I encouraged our involvement in the life of the community. The Literary Festival and Music Festival both used our church as one of their main venues.
In 2018 we travelled up to North Devon, to the Ilfracombe and Barnstaple circuit with its mixture of town and village churches and six ecumenical partnerships out of twelve churches.
Louise grew up in Cornwall and trained as a nurse at Treliske Hospital. As a child I had many happy holidays in Newlyn where my grandparents lived. So, we are looking forward to being back in the county we love.
We both enjoy walking and so we are looking forward to exploring more of the coast path. Our garden is important to us and here in Braunton we have reclaimed part of the lawn to make a vegetable patch. When we lived in Budleigh Salterton we were within walking distance of the sea and I tried to swim each day.
Louise enjoys crafting, especially knitting and sewing. She has worked as a one to one Teaching Assistant at Primary School for the last sixteen years.
In the unlikely event of my being a guest on Desert Island Discs, my luxury would be my chefs knife with its sharpening stone. I love cooking for my family and friends. My book would be The Rattle Bag, an anthology of poems selected by Ted Hughes and Seamus Heaney.
We have close family in Cornwall, Devon, South Wales and Gloucestershire and our four grandchildren all enjoy holidays in Cornwall.
We look forward to getting to know you all.
